about

It all started with a cover of "Little Wing" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience- and although it was one the songs cut from the album, the overall result was a full instrumental album of mostly original songs. After three albums that demonstrate me learning how to play guitar and write and record music (which have since been deleted from this site), I finally present an album I think is worthy of sharing with the world. Each song went through deeper conceptualization, more purposeful examination, and more focused editing before its publication, and the product is something I can really be proud of.

The focus of the album was to create something where I didn't have to explain that "it has lyrics, but since I can't sing, I put a piano melody in its place." While it was a bit of a challenge to write purely instrumental music at first, I quickly took a liking to it- although I would like to return to lyrical composition in the future, hopefully with vocals.

Recording took place between June 2020 and January 2021. Missing from this album are five songs that I recorded over that duration: "Uprising," an original heavily inspired by Pink Floyd's "One of These Days;" "Little Wing" and "The Wind Cries Mary" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience; "Goodbye Blue Sky" by Pink Floyd; and "I Could Have Lied" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I felt that "Uprising" did not fit on the album, while the rest were covers that I did not want to have to get permission to use and pay royalties for.
